NEW MILFORD WEB DESIGN

About Do-It-Yourself. With (my) Options.

Many years ago I would create websites with a variety of popular Content Management Systems (CMS).
As a rule, Wordpress pretty much was the norm, but I would dabble with others: Joomla, Drupal, Squarespace, Wix, and Webflow. Each and every one of them has an advantage. Each has it's own disadvantages.

However – about two years ago  – I started looking for something different to handle the layouts of the websites I was working on. I had became tired of coding. I was being overwhelmed by attempting to stay "on mark." I did not like the feeling. And, I did not have a kindred sense toward the usual options available for DYI/minimal-code website builders. Delving deeper into any of the mainstream CMS seemed bothersome.

It was simply "time for a change." Happens,

WEBSITE LAYOUTS

My coming across nicepage offered a relief. Nicepage is a powerful design tool that bridges the gap between template builders and fully custom-coded websites. As a visual website builder it gives the creative freedom of custom coding — without needing to write the code. I had used it – well, it's predecessors in the previous incarnations of Artisteer, then Themler – many years ago. But, the predecessors fell to the wayside as the internet became "more sophisticated."

In re-discovering Nicepage I am comfortable and at-ease with what I can produce. Nicepage, itself, is a small company with less than 50 employees, but they appear to be solid and energetic. I've often been disappointed by many of the larger software developers out there, especially the likes of Adobe and Microsoft. I never entirely"blamed the corporates" for their sunsetting of certain programs – but it didn't make the upsets any less painful. As with everything, the internet grows, changes ad advances.

Nicepage is located in Nicosia, Cyprus. It is not a powerhouse, usually ranked about 191 among 1600 active competitor. But, unlike many, they appear to not be backed by big business and the usual corporate structure. I, personally, appreciate that.

NOWADAYS

I work very simple websites and tend to favor those that I've been involved with for the last few years. Being grateful for the opportunity to be of service has been something I've seldom taken for granted. And, truth be known, most of my clients probably have "options" with far more sophisticated designers. Over the years a few have left. And, over the years, those that left inevitably have called me back. That is very reaffirming. I built my first website on a Mac Plus in 1987.  It has been a good ride.

PORTFOLIO WEBSITES

I started my career in advertising and design layout. I still continue to do independent work with many other designers and freelancers. In the past I worked with many publications (Brides, Yankee Magazine, Civil War Heritage, to name a few), but my interests on the web pretty much moved me from page layouts to html. The rest is history – though I still do enjoy creating an occasional commemorative booklet or promotions campaign for smaller companies and not-for-profits.
